The leadership of Committee announced the results of social and economic development of the city for 2017, the application of the “May” Presidential Decrees (St. Petersburg is a leader in the implementation of them), the application of the State Program “Economic development and the knowledge economy in St. Petersburg” (The effectively implementation of its was 96, 8 percent, and the degree of achievement of benchmarks was 100 percent).

The Committee for Economic Policy and Strategic Planning of St. Petersburg developed and approved almost 10,000 standard budget cost for 2017. Additional, the Committee made expertise for investment projects including concession agreements and public-private partnership conventions.

The Committee experts analyzed and established measures to support the IT-industry. These points were a basis of the Act “On Amendments to the Law of St. Petersburg Tax Relief Act” that were approved at the city council meeting on March 27, 2018.

Ivan Filippov presented the main tasks of Committee’s work. He pointed out that the major theme will be the preparation of a Strategy of St. Petersburg for the 2035, and an action plan to realization of Strategy. Furthermore, significant work on analysis of Russian and foreign cities has been implemented. The best practical experience will be included in the strategy of St. Petersburg in the future. Moreover, the main development vectors of city was determined in the long term.

Finally, Ivan Filippov emphasized the necessity for addressing issues related of the existing economic circumstances. “In this context, the Committee’s ambition is to transformation St. Petersburg to one of the main economy Russian center. Attaining that objective requires the active Committee’s participation”, - he said.
