Valery Moskalenko visited Israel in the delegation of St.Petersburg

Valery Moskalenko, Chairman of the Committee for Economic Policy and Strategic Planning of St. Petersburg, took part in the visit of the delegation of St.Petersburg to Israel.
The Days of St. Petersburg were held in 7 cities of Israel 11-15, November and comprised an extensive cultural and business program to strengthen contacts between St. Petersburg and Israel.

Valery Moskalenko became the moderator of  the business forum “St. Petersburg - Israel”. Heads of enterprises in the field of transport, water supply and sanitation, as well as professional auditors and experts made reports. The participants discussed the opportunities and prospects for business development between Israel and St. Petersburg.

During the visit, Valery Moskalenko hold talks with Zohar Sharon, Chief Knowledge Officer of the Tel Aviv-Yafo municipality sharing the experience in the field of electronic services.

Digital resident card of Tel Aviv allows residents to receive information and services online. All acording to the person's place of residence, areas of interest and marital status. Residents also use the Digitel mobile application. This application simplifies communication between the City and its residents by offering a variety of alerts and discounts.

“Colleagues from the cities of Israel shared their valuable experience in the field of electronic services for citizens, - said Valery Moskalenko. “We have agreed on cooperation: the experience of this country will be studied in detail and the most promising and interesting developments will be used in the further development of our priority project The Unified St.Petersburg Citizen Card”.

Valery Moskalenko presented the experience of The Unified St.Petersburg Citizen Card and all the possibilities provided, as well as the technologies that were used when launching the project. Colleagues from Israel highly appreciated St. Petersburg development and expressed interest in further cooperation, working for citizens convenience.

One of the main events was laying a capsule with the soil from the Piskarevsky cemetery at the base of the Candle of Remembrance monument.

An eight meters high bronze stele to be crowned with a cast part, which symbolizes the flame of a candle. The monument contains a text about the Leningrad siege in Russian, English and Hebrew. It is planned that the monument will be opened early next year in Jerusalem. 

The Day of the lifting of the blockade and the Day of Remembrance of the Holocaust are celebrated in January. The honored guest of the ceremony will be Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Israeli leadership.

The monument is to be decorated with the symbol of the “siege swallow”. In the spring of 1942, many Leningraders wore a small tin badge on their chest. It depicted a swallow with a letter in its beak. This symbol has become a symbol of the response to the statements of Nazi propaganda that claimed that even a bird would not fly into the city.

Guests from the city on the Neva to meet with war veterans and siege survivors living in Israel. An exhibition of documentary photographs about the blockade is scheduled to take place as well as the presentation of Candle of Remembrance anthology.
